Aerosol 501 surfactant is a sodium salt of sulfosuccinic acid monoester, which is an emulsifier for the synthesis of small particle size emulsions. It can also be used as a dispersant and wetting agent.

Scope of application

Aerosol 501 Surfactant is a surface tensiondepressant and a dispersing and wetting agent. Itcan be used in many applications where nonionicsurfactants are presently used.

Aerosol 501 Surfactant was specifically designed for use as the sole emulsifier in preparing polyacrylate latexes. It permits the incorporation of greater amounts of self-crosslinking monomers, such as N-methylolacrylamide, into acrylic polymer latexes without sacrificing latex performance requirements. 

Aerosol 501 Surfactant may also be used as the sole emulsifier for other latex systems.
