Cryminal 904 is a hydrophobically modified anionic thickener, it’s specially designed to give medium shear rate viscosity in architectural coatings. Cryminal 904 is able to confer the paints with outstanding roller spattering resistant and excellent film building and leveling. It can resist microbiological degradation, thereby avoiding viscosity lossin the system.
Chemical nature | hydrophobically modified alkali swellable dispersion |
Appearance | milky liquid |
Solids content | 30±1% |
pH value | 2.0-3.5 |
Specific gravity | 1.0100-1.1100 |
Cryminal 904 should be diluted 1:1 with water before use, and it can be easily added into different stages such as millbase, letdown, or as a post addition, as long as the system is sufficiently adjusted to be alkaline and sufficient mixing is available. Besides, Cryminal 904 can be prepared as a preneutralized form of 3% solution in water and pH is adjusted between 8.0 to 8.5 with ammonia.
Cryminal 904 develops a pseudoplastic rheology profile, compared with HEC, it’s less shear thinning, but can provide paint the highest viscosity at high shear rates which gives greater film building during brush or roller application. Cryminal 904 also maintains the lower viscosity at low shear rate, therefore, it can control the system in good flow and leveling.
